Although we recently wrapped up 2019, the Sessile editorial team couldn’t resist the urge to share some news with you. Here’s a look back at the highlights of our year.
March 15: Sessile was born
March 15 is kind of like our anniversary—that’s when Sessile officially launched! Our goal: to create a true collective of artisan florists to champion their place online.
April 8: The Blog, "Draw Me a Florist"
Because florists are fascinating and passionate people, we wanted to share a little about their daily lives. So we spent a day with them, why they’re the best to buy flowers from, and how it’s up to the Internet to adapt to them —not the other way around.
I find my bouquet of flowers
June 29 and September 13: It's market time!
To celebrate craftsmanship and plants, Sessile organized two flower markets at Ground Control. The goal: to give artisans a chance to showcase their arrangements and attend a few floral design classes. For the occasion, illustrators even came to exhibit their plant-themed drawings.
Despite the heat in June and the rain in September, the florists were there, and so were the fond memories. What a great time!
November 14: A Request Unlike Any Other
A major luxury brand entrusted us with decorating Paris’s Vélib’ bikes with flowers as part of a marketing campaign. We were a little daunted at first by the 2,000 bouquets, but everything went smoothly.
Next week, we'll tell you all about this wonderful adventure, which took 10 people to assemble more than 25,000 rods!
November 27: Sessile Invited to Rungis's 50th Anniversary Celebration!
We were lucky: Sessile was invited to Rungis’s 50th anniversary celebration, a true tribute to culinary and floral craftsmanship. We took full advantage of the opportunity to meet enthusiasts from all walks of life and soak up a great deal of enthusiasm.
December 3: We officially have more than 50 members
A touching moment. The Sessile collective has been around for over 50 years—it feels strange when you’re less than a year old…
Thank you to all the florists who trust us to showcase their creations and make them more visible online. Our support for them is no accident: we’re happy to say that we work with passionate, dedicated, and creative professionals.
But what matters most is what we still have to build: even more beautiful flower shops, an even prettier website, and events to celebrate the beauty of flowers. We can’t wait!
Who are we?
Sessile champions the independence of artisan florists online. Founded in 2019 by six friends, Sessile brings together 500 florists committed to transforming the industry and enables flower delivery throughout France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. By breaking away from the traditional online catalog model, the network highlights each florist’s expertise and helps keep the art of floristry alive. Florists can pursue their passion and create more creative bouquets because they have greater freedom to offer seasonal flowers and, whenever possible, locally sourced flowers.
