Sessile at the Île-de-France Florists' Competition!
Sessile was in Rungis! On Wednesday, May 15, the Île-de-France Cup for artisan florists took place, organized by the Île-de-France Florists’ Trade Association. After five floral arrangement competitions, the jury reached its decision: William Sottile will represent the region at the French Cup in September.
It’s an annual tradition: every May, theÎle-de-France Florists’ Competition takes place right in the heart of the Rungis Flower Market. Through a series of floral arrangement challenges, the contestants—all professional florists—were invited to demonstrate their skill and creativity. The prize: the chance to represent the region at the French Florists’ Competition.

The Lyrical Depiction of Flowers
The contestants were tasked with working on five projects that put their artistic sensibilities to the test, all centered on the theme of the lyrical evocation of flowers—a theme that clearly inspired them greatly. In addition to creating a structured bouquet and a buffet display, the florists had to adorn a shawl with flowers. The final challenge—and undoubtedly the most spectacular—was the creation of floral arches set up at the event’s partner booths.
The jury, chaired by Ghislaine Caze, winner of the Meilleure Ouvrière de France award, announced its decision the following day: William Sottile, a master florist and instructor at the Ecole des Fleuristes de Paris, ultimately won the competition’s gold medal. The silver medal went to Stella Fabries, and the bronze to Sylvie Chardon. Congratulations to them and to all the contestants!
