And the cut-flower industry is no exception: that is why horticultural professionals have sought to guarantee both the quality and the origin of their flowers through a short-chain approach, which allows them to prioritize seasonal flowers. In a nutshell: a return to responsible agriculture.
Inspired by horticulturists in the Anglo-Saxon world, the Slow Flower movement aims to promote a production and purchasing cycle that is not only more environmentally friendly but also more beneficial to both consumers and producers.

But we often forget to mention the hands that craft the bouquets—and yet that’s no small detail! The difference between a simple arrangement of flowers and what we call a bouquet lies in the florist’s skill, combined with their sense of aesthetics. In short, it’s that little touch of passion that makes all the difference.
Sessile believes that sustainability and responsibility in the flower trade must also take into account all stakeholders in the industry, starting with florists. That’s why we define our mission through the concept of “slow florist” (we’ll admit it’s a bit of Frenglish!): it’s a way to highlight the environmental aspect of buying flowers by prioritizing seasonal blooms, while also promoting the unique nature of the florist’s craft.
In a nutshell, “slow floristry” is the desire to make buying flowers a more human experience and one that’s better suited to florists’ daily lives. So say goodbye to the one-size-fits-all, impersonal catalog, and make way for custom arrangements that showcase florists’ expertise and artistic sensibility.
