Giving Flowers: 4 Creative Ways to Give a Bouquet

As we’ve said before, there’s no such thing as the “right” time to give flowers. To make the biggest impact, it’s best to add a touch of creativity and the unexpected to surprise your loved ones. Whether it’s an original container, an unexpected moment, or an offbeat setting, the Sessile editorial team has a few ideas to help you wow everyone!

Unique Containers

Vases can really enhance a floral arrangement when chosen with good taste. But why not try something different? You can go green and repurpose everyday objects to create unique containers.

Let's get started—here are a few ideas: a watering can, a tin can, a teapot, or even light bulbs! If you're into crafts and DIY, you shouldn't have any trouble coming up with a unique display.

Do you have an artistic streak? If so, you might even consider hollowing out a pineapple to turn it into a creative vase, adorned with a small fruit arrangement. Still, let’s be honest—it does take some work…

A group of thrown cylinders—simple and straight—made from the same clay body as seen in my recent posts. I haven’t thrown any of these yet in the new studio. I’ve been sticking to simple forms like mugs and beakers, and I hope to move on to bowls over the next few days once my wooden throwing batts arrive. I can’t wait—I hope you all don’t mind seeing lots of bowls in the process photos and videos of me throwing and turning them. I’m trying not to flood my feed with dozens of making posts, but that might end up happening soon. Ideally, I want to have a ton of these smaller pieces ready to fill the first few firings, which will likely be hit-and-miss as I learn how to fire the new gas kiln. The studio still feels half-empty since I’ve left one side clear, ready for when the kilns are installed. I’ll start tomorrow by finally making my plaster reclaim batts—with some trepidation, since I may be comfortable with clay, but plaster is a whole different story.
